About Dr Wendy Ing Lim

Owning and operating a veterinary clinic has always been a childhood dream, and on June 7th of this year, 20 years after immigrating to the USA, this dream has come true. The clinic’s vision is to be the trusted veterinary care provider in the local community through cutting edge standards of care and effective client education.

Born and raised on Borneo Island, East Malaysia, Dr. Lim received her veterinary training at Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Universiti Putra Malaysia, from 1997 to 2003. She then underwent a series of testing through the Education Commission fo Foreign Veterinary Graduate, Association of Veterinary Medicine, USA. In 2005 she was finally licensed to practice veterinary medicine in the USA, and accredited by the USDA to issue health certificates for international travels.

With 20 years of experience under her belt, Lim has treated numerous species of animals including cats, dogs, small exotic pets and reptiles. Her final year project was titled “Blood and gastrointestinal parasites in the Malayan Water Monitor Lizards” with which she competed in an inter-varsity parasitology competition. During the early years of her practice, Dr. Lim performed countless surgeries, including routine spays and castrations, as well as more difficult procedures such as splenectomy, cystotomy, gastro or enterotomy, and even highly challenging procedures like femoral head osteotomy and perineal urosthrotomy.

Dr. Lim’s passion remains in client education and community service.  She has spent her time working for the Monmouth County SPCA performing up to 50 procedures daily. She also volunteered to help with their Pitty Project, among many other voluntary contributions to the pet community. She is a skillful surgeon who is generous in devoting her time to help pets and owners in need. She can be heard whenever and wherever, sharing her knowledge with anyone who is interested, at dinner parties or summer camps or school career days.

Before taking over Scotch Plains Animal Hospital, Dr. Lim would spend her spare time caring and playing with her three children, attending stand-up comedy shows, Zumba and kickboxing. She also loves traveling and makes sure to expose her children to different parts of the world. The family consists of 5 members, and a small mixed breed dog named Pancho, who originated from Puerto Rico. Pascal the chameleon is the latest addition to the clan.
